A serial killer is a person who murders three or more people due to abnormal psychological conditions or in cult settings. The murders are taking place over more than a month and have a significant period of time between them (though some authorities have different parameters).
The US had a period in the 60s, 70s, and 80s with many active serial killers. Some of these murders were probably cult activity.
