Togo is a francophone nation state in West Africa. Togo is bordered by Ghana to the west, Benin to the east and Burkina Faso to the north. It is one of the least developed countries and extends south to the Gulf of Guinea, where its capital, Lomé, is located.

One of the smallest African countries, Togo joined the Commonwealth on 15 June 2022.[1]

History

The Togolese Republic was proclaimed on 27 April 1960, gaining independence from France.[2]
