Wikipedia reported in August 2015 that "Seeking to revitalize the Committee’s work, in 2004 the Security Council adopted Resolution 1535, creating the Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED) to provide the CTC with expert advice on all areas covered by resolution 1373."

Set up in 2004, it became became fully staffed in September 2005 and was formally declared operational in December 2005.[1].

In 2021, UNCTED began contacting internet domain name registrars requesting the censorship of internet domain names.[2]
