Joan Maria Nin was born in Barcelona in 1953. He is a lawyer-economist from the University of Deusto and holds a master's degree in law from the London School of Economics.
Career
He began his professional career as program director of the team that negotiated Spain's accession to the European Union from 1978 to 1980, after which he joined Banco Hispano Americano. In 1992, with the merger of this bank with Banco Central Hispano, he was appointed general director of commercial banking and member of the management committee. In 1999 Central Hispano merged with Banco Santander, being appointed in this new entity general director and member of the management committee, in addition to having responsibilities in commercial banking.
