Might have supervised the surveillance of the brothers Said Kouachi and Cherif Kouachi, the ON shooters in the 2015 Charlie Hebdo attacks. Later convicted for possession of pedophile images but "incomprehensibly" acquitted of rape.

Olivier Combe is a French policeman and spook who worked for the General Directorate for Internal Security.

Career

Born in Reims in 1961, Olivier Combe spent his entire career in the same place, in the Ardennes.[1]

According to the magazine Panamza, he supervised the surveillance of the brothers Said Kouachi and Cherif Kouachi, the ON shooters in the 2015 Charlie Hebdo attacks.[2]

Conviction

In March 2021, he was convicted to 2 years jail for possession of thousands of pedophile images.[1]

For the charge of sexual assault on a young girl whom he had for mission to "deradicalize", Combe was acquitted. It was between February and July 2016 that the sexual assaults were allegedly committed. He forced her to shout "Allahu Akhbar" as he was raping her.[3] The victim filed a complaint in April 2019, when she was still a minor and identified as being in the process of "radicalization". At the age of 57, he was then at the head of the Directorate General for Internal Security (DGSI), in charge in particular of radicalization and the prevention of "terrorism".[1]

The victim's lawyer, who was only 16 years old at the time of the facts, denounced it as an "incomprehensible" judgment. "The message that the court sends to a predator like Mr Combe is extremely dangerous: one gets the impression that he did well to behave in this way. We're not going to stop there."[1]
