The Social Democratic Party of Germany (German: Sozialdemokratische Partei Deutschlands, SPD) is a social-democratic political party in Germany. It is one of the two major contemporary political parties in Germany along with the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU).

It's December 2021 party conference was sponsored by among others Pfizer and Microsoft. The SPD-led government, beginning the same month, promised 'no red lines' in its COVID policy.[1][2]
