Giovanni Ravasio is an Italian economist who was Director-General for Economic and Financial Affairs of the European Commission.[1] He attended the 1982 Bilderberg meeting.

Education

Giovanni Ravasio studied economic sciences at the Free University of Brussels from 1957 until 1962.[2]

Career

From 1963 to 1965 he was employed by the European Economic Community as Secretary of the Study group on economic cycles. In 1965, he joined the Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs of the Commission of the European Economic Community. He worked in the Belgium-Benelux Office and dealt with macro-economic surveillance, analysis.[2]

In 1971, he was in charge of issues relating to Community structural policies (energy, regions, state subsidies). From 1978 to 1981, he was head of the Economic Integration Unit (DG II-B-1).
