Lambertus Jacobus Jozef (Lambert) van Nistelrooij is a Dutch politician. He was a member of the European Parliament from 2004 to 2019 on behalf of the Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA).[1][2]

Background

Lambert van Nistelrooij studied human geography at the Catholic University of Nijmegen and worked as a policy officer at the province of Gelderland and at the Noordbrabantse Christelijke Boerenbond (NCB). He was a municipal councilor in Nuland and member of the Provincial Council of North Brabant. In the latter position, he was responsible for public health, welfare and public housing.

EU politics

In the 2004 European Parliament elections, Van Nistelrooij was elected to the European Parliament on behalf of the CDA. In the European Parliament he was involved in regional development. Van Nistelrooij was the European Parliament's rapporteur and negotiator for the European Structural and Investment Funds 2014-2020, with a budget of 322 billion euros.

He later became a member of the Dutch delegation to the Committee of the Regions in Brussels and Treasurer of the House of Dutch Provinces in Brussels. He was also Vice President of the Assembly of European Regions for some time.[3]
