A protest or demonstration is a public expression of objection, disapproval or dissent towards an idea or action, typically a political one.

Fox News reported in 2009 that the US Department of Defense was referring to protest activity as "low level terrorism". At the beginning of 2016, high schools across the USA were asked to report students who criticize government policies and “western corruption” as potential future terrorists.
