He joined the Kontrollbank in 1954, in which he quickly made a career (authorized signatory in 1959, head of the legal office in 1962, deputy director in 1965, board member in 1967, chairman of the Board in 1971, general director in 1972). As the inventor of the domestic export financing and promotion system, fighter for an efficient capital market, developer of the restructuring concept for the Austrian Länderbank and contributor to the founding of the Development and Renewal Fund (later EGG), Haschek earned high merits; the construction of the first gas pipeline contract with the formerUSSR (1968) is one of the international pioneering achievements. In 1974 Haschek became a lecturer at the Diplomatic Academy, in 1979 an honorary professor at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (Institute of Banking Economics). As an economic adviser, he was many times at the side of politicians.[2]

He died in 1993, age 62.[3][4]
