DescriptionAn SDS-backed billionaire financial fraudster and sexual blackmailer reportedly suicided in 2019.
Larry Sanger the co-founder of Wikipedia commenting on the 2019 developments of the Epstein affair. Full thread.

The Epstein Affair is centered upon the figure of Jeffrey Epstein, but involves a VIPaedophile ring potentially connecting large swathes of associates whose relevance continues to be minimised by the commercially-controlled media.

Background

Zev Shalev, former executive producer for CBS News and journalist at Narativ, stated in 2019 that he had confirmed with two independent sources “closely connected to the Epstein story and in a position to know” that Epstein had “worked for Israeli military intelligence.”[1][2][3]

Jeffrey Epstein was a serial financial fraudster who managed billions of dollars for the Deep State. A convicted paedophile and sex addict himself, he hosted lavish parties and arranged for sexual blackmail of high powered friends and contacts. Many factors suggest that he was connected to the Mossad.[4][5][6]

“Epstein was an important part of a network – though arguably middle management – for a group composed of transgenerational organized crime interests (most of whom are the remnant of the Jewish mob component of the National Crime Syndicate and who promote ethno-fascist policies including via their ethnically focused philanthropy, among other activities) and major factions within both American and Israeli intelligence. They are not synonymous with either intelligence agency but arguably dominate the leadership of those intelligence agencies.”
Whitney Webb (6 March 2025)  [7]

Christina Oxenberg, an acquaintance of G. Maxwell and J. Epstein since the early 1990s has written on her Patreon account, that she had a conversation with both in which they related that they: "have everyone on videotape" and Maxwell made helicopter pilot since an additional employee would be: "eyes and ears we don’t need".[8] The trafficking in which both engaged was apparently well known in Washington, since after the death of Epstein, Cindy McCain, wife of Senator John McCain, related: "Epstein was hiding in plain sight. We all knew about him" - "We all knew what he was doing, but we had no one — no legal aspect that would go after him. They were afraid of him. For whatever reason, they were afraid of him".[9]

Nick Bryant believes that some of the trafficked girls were under the age of 10.[10][11] The lawsuit of the U.S. Virgin Islands against the estate of Jeffrey Epstein states that:[12] "(45) The Epstein Enterprise facilitated and participated in the sexual molestation and exploitation of numerous girls between the age of 12 and 17 years old", "(205) The Epstein Enterprise engaged in two or more occasions of conduct that constitutes criminal predicate acts as defined by CICO, including, but not limited to, using or facilitating the use of force or coercion to accomplish sexual contact or engaging in sexual contact with a minor between 13 and 16 years of age", "(48) As recent as 2018, air traffic controllers and other airport personnel reported seeing Epstein leave his plane with young girls some of whom appeared to be between the age of 11 and 18 years".

Jeffrey Epstein Affair.jpg

1996

In 1996, artist Maria Farmer filed one of the earliest complaints against Jeffrey Epstein, alleging that she was sexually assaulted by Epstein and his close associate, Ghislaine Maxwell.[13][14]

1997

Alicia Arden was one of Epstein's earliest accusers, but police did not take her report seriously in 1997.[15]

2005

Parents reporting that their daughter was molested at Epstein's mansion in Palm Beach.[16]

2008 Charge

In 2008 Epstein arranged a plea deal after being arrested for soliciting a minor for sexual contact. His defense lawyers Jay Lefkowitz‎ (and Alan Dershowitz?)[citation needed] agreed a deal with Alexander Acosta which gave a blanket exemption to any associates of Epstein in the affair.

John Dougan‎

John Dougan‎ was inside the investigation and fled to Russia with information where he was granted political asylum.[17]

2019 Ruling

In February 2019 "a federal judge ruled that the prosecutors working the case broke the law by not notifying Epstein's victims that they were cutting him a plea deal."[18]

After this, former associates moved to distance themselves from Epstein.[citation needed]

2019 Arrest

Epstein was arrested on 6 July 2019 and was charged with sex trafficking conspiracy of minors by the federal government. [19]

Epstein's legal team aggressively pushed to allow their client to stay on house arrest pending trial at his New York townhouse, pledging up to $559 million as collateral to guarantee his cooperation]. [20] Epstein was denied bail pending trial. He was held Metropolitan Correctional Center in Lower Manhattan.

"Suicide attempt"

On the morning of 23 July 2019, Epstein was found with neck injuries. The official narrative was that he had tried to kill himself. Court papers released in 2020 stated that the Metropolitan Correctional Center staff had "inadvertently" deleted the CCTV of that night.[21]

"Apparent Suicide"

Full article: Jeffrey Epstein/"Suicide"

The most supine commercially-controlled media outlets hurried to echo the official narrative of an "apparent suicide", without detailing what circumstances gave the appearance of suicide. This was in sharp contrast with independent voices which tended to express high levels of disbelief at the suicide narrative. On 12 August the BBC termed dissent from the official narrative as "wild speculation", concluding with an apparently unrelated quote from Jim Sciutto that "Remember this is about... partisan politics. When I was [there]... folks didn't trust authorities so assumed a plot behind every event."[22] Again on 12 August, CNN referred to it as an "apparent suicide".[23] USA Today wrote on 15 August that "The prison officials who took Jeffrey Epstein off his suicide watch prematurely, relegating him to almost certain death, did not do the prison system and how it handles mental health emergencies any favors. "[24]

"Reported Suicide"

Independent media regarded the claim with scepticism, even disbelief.[25]Russ Baker urged on 10 August that A Little Skepticism is Warranted about the suicide narrative.[26]

2022 Expose by Whitney Webb

In 2022 Whitney Webb published One Nation Under Blackmail - The Sordid Union Between Intelligence and Crime that Gave Rise to Jeffrey Epstein. Beginning in the US in the 1940s, this book traces the history of the milieu that gave rise to the massive financial frauds and the sexual blackmail run by Epstein.

People

Epstein had a lot of interesting connections,[27] including:

Alan Dershowitz

Alan Dershowitz worked as an attorney for Epstein, and was co-accused by Virginia Roberts. He flew on the Lolita Express and his name appears in Epstein's black book. Dershowitz is the architect of Epstein’s 2008 plea bargain, and his strategy was "to firebomb the credibility of Epstein’s victims".[28]

Andrew Windsor

In the UK, the Epstein connection which garnered the most interest in late 2019 was Andrew Windsor, who was criticised for staying with Epstein after his registration as a sex offender. Multiple photos testify to a relationship between the two.

Bill Clinton

Flight logs show that Bill Clinton took at least 26 trips on Epstein’s infamous private sex plane, dubbed the "Lolita Express".[30]

Donald Trump

Donald Trump told New York Magazine for a 2002 profile of Epstein "I’ve known Jeff for fifteen years. Terrific guy. He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it — Jeffrey enjoys his social life."[31] In 2019, on the day after New York authorities took Epstein into custody, Trump stated "I was not a fan of his, that I can tell you."[32]

Epstein shared a banker with Trump, Thomas Bowers, who loaned hundreds of millions of dollars of both men, and who was found dead in November 2019.[33][34]

Ehud Barak and Israeli military intelligence

Former Israeli prime minister and intelligence chief Ehud Barak was a frequent visitor to Epstein’s residences in New York, so often that The Daily Beast reported[35] that numerous residents of an apartment building linked to Epstein “had seen Barak in the building multiple times over the last few years, and nearly half a dozen more described running into his security detail”. Barak is also known to have spent the night at one of Epstein’s residences at least once, was photographed leaving Epstein’s residence as recently as 2016, and has admitted to visiting Epstein’s island. Epstein was a co-investor in the company Carbyne.

Zev Shalev, former executive producer for CBS News, stated that he had independently confirmed with two unconnected sources “closely connected to the Epstein story and in a position to know” that Epstein had “worked for Israeli military intelligence.”[36]

Ghislaine Maxwell

After a brief sexual relationship with Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell is widely reported to have become a key part of his sex trafficking operation and a recruiter of underage girls. [37] Robert David Steele amongst other voices alleges that both Ghislaine and her father, Robert Maxwell worked for Mossad.[38]

Jes Staley

Epstein lobbied on behalf of Barclays CEO Jes Staley in 2012, when Barclays opted for Antony Jenkins over Staley as CEO. The Mail on Sunday reported the existence of emails showing that Epstein backed Staley in 2012 - for a job he got three years later anyway. The pair know each other from Staley’s days in charge of JP Morgan’s private bank, where the billionaire Epstein was a client. [39] Staley visited Epstein's island, Little St. James, twice, "accompanied by his wife on both visits,” [40]

Staley was present at a meeting at Jeffrey Epstein’s Manhattan mansion in 2011, together with former Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers; Bill Gates, Microsoft’s co-founder; and Boris Nikolic, who was the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s science adviser.[41][42]

Leslie Wexner

In 2008 Epstein donated around $46 million to the Wexner Foundation.[43] Billionaire businessman Leslie Wexner had a close relationship with Jeffrey Epstein that began in the 1980s and continued until at least 2007.[44][45] He was the primary billionaire client of Epstein, a financier that claimed to only work with clients with a net worth of one billion USD or greater. Epstein became Wexner's financial manager in 1987.[46]

Norwegian Politicians

IPI has several links to Epstein, including through a donation of 375,000 dollars from one of his foundations. Several press releases[48] from Epstein’s organisations are about the partnership with the think tank[49].

Epstein was the person who introduced Bill Gates to IPI. In a 2013 meeting (see below), where IPI introduced Gates to a polio eradication project, turned out to be very fruitful for the think-tank. Later the same year, Gates’ foundation granted IPI 2.5 million dollars. Since then, an addition 6 million dollars has followed, according to the foundation[50]. The most recent grant was earlier this year, an additional 250,000 dollars.

  • When asked by his successor as chairperson, former Nobel Committee chair Thorbjørn Jagland denied having met Jeffrey Epstein. But at a 2013 meeting, not only did Jagland meet Epstein, he hosted him at his lavish residence in Strasbourg, France (which Jagland had as Secretary General of the Council of Europe). At the time, Jagland was also the sitting chair of the Nobel committee, which awards the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize. Also present: Bill Gates "a philanthropist touted as a possible Prize recipient."... "Also present were representatives of the think tank International Peace Institute (IPI), who later that year partnered with Gates’ foundation in the fight against polio."[51] According to Jagland, Gates and Epstein arrived together.
  • Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway met Epstein several times between 2011 and 2013 for charity purposes, one of them in his New York home[52]. In 2019, she apologised for not having scrutinized his past more thoroughly before meeting him. Former prime minister Kjell Magne Bondevik of Norway met Epstein at a dinner party in 2013, but declined to pursue funding from Epstein, allegedly having found out about Epstein’s past in a Google search.

Tech Tycoons

Though it is unknown exactly which Silicon Valley figures were most connected to Epstein and which tech executives were potentially being blackmailed by Epstein, it is known that Epstein associated with several prominent tech executives, including Google co-founder Sergey Brin, Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, and LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman.

"Potential co-conspirators" granted immunity

Four named "potential co-conspirators" granted immunity by the 2008 sweatheart plea deal that Alexander Acosta cut Jeffrey Epstein:[53]

  1. Nada Marcinkova (a.k.a. Nadia Marcinko)
  2. Lesley Groff
  3. Adriana Ross
  4. Sarah Kellen (a.k.a. Sarah Kensington.)[54][55]

Cover-up

Jeffrey Epstein: How a Government Spy Blackmailed America

As Whitney Webb points out in One Nation Under Blackmail, Commercially-controlled media has published almost nothing about the financial crimes of Jeffrey Epstein, or his documented connections with other US deep state operatives such as Bill Clinton etc.

Premature deaths

Full article: Epstein Affair/Premature death

Multiple co-perpetrators who worked with Epstein also ended up dead.

Fallout

The US Attorney General, Bill Barr, ordered the warden at the time of the Epstein affair, Lamine N'Diaye, be reassigned to a desk job. However, he was instead assigned to a "top job" at FCI Fort Dix, a low-security prison in Burlington County, New Jersey.[56]

House Oversight Committee

The House Oversight Committee released a collection of emails, videos and audio files related to Jeffrey Epstein in 2025.[57][58][59]

2023“Former V.I. Attorney General Denise George, who successfully sued the estate of Jeffrey Epstein and then was summarily fired by Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. in December, has broken her silence in an interview with Britain’s Sunday Times Magazine. In it, she hints that a run for governor may be in her future.

The interview — published Saturday by the Sunday Times, a 600,000-plus circulation newspaper owned by Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. — is the first time George has spoken of her efforts to bring Epstein and his alleged accomplices to account, and the fallout from that endeavor. George, who was widely lauded when she won a $105 million lawsuit against the Epstein estate in November — believed to be the largest monetary settlement in the history of the territory — subsequently filed suit for $190 million against his onetime bank, JPMorgan Chase, on Dec. 27 in Manhattan federal court, alleging violations of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act.

Bryan fired George four days later, on New Year’s Eve, saying nothing at first but later admitting that he was “blindsided” by the lawsuit that has opened V.I. officials to scrutiny for their dealings with Epstein. That includes Bryan himself, who approved Epstein’s lucrative Economic Development Authority benefits when he was head of the EDA board and has been deposed by JPMorgan’s attorneys, along with a host of other territory officials.”

Whitney Webb“Epstein was involved in a lot of things, and not only with underage females. Delving into all the publicly available material on Epstein, investigative journalist Whitney Webb needed two volumes to trace Epstein’s complex and mysterious career. She meticulously reconstructs the elaborate nebula of his connections to the world not just of finance, but also of espionage and crime. Her two volumes were published last year with the title, “One Nation Under Blackmail.”

Given all the chatter the WSJ’s articles have generated, at breakfast this morning I thought it appropriate to raise the question not so much of Epstein’s story itself, but of the way the press responds to the public’s need for information. After reminding Chad of the context, I shared these thoughts with Chad.

“The Journal appears to confirm, though only partially and obliquely, much of what Webb has described. Because of the implications — including the inevitable embarassment for people who have carefully crafted their public image of respectability — the Journal should either release the documents or, as Wikileaks was wont to do, share them with a number of serious newspapers to ensure a minimum level of objectivity and transparency. This story and all its implications are of vital interest to the public in a democracy. What, apart from the commercial interest of owning a scoop, explains the Wall Street Journal’s reluctance to do so?””
