Henry R. Kravis is a multi-billionaire[1] American businessman. He is a co-founder of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co and the KKR Global Institute. Kravis was one of the key players in the leveraged buyout ("hostile takeover") of RJR Nabisco in late 1988 for $24.88 billion which was the largest corporate control transaction of its time.[2]
Kravis is a prominent Republican political donor and was a major contributor to the 1992 re-election campaign of George H. W. Bush, as well as the campaigns of George W. Bush and John McCain. He established the Republican Leadership Council with Lewis Eisenberg in 1997 [3]
While not a donor during the Trump campaign, Kravis donated $1 million to the presidential inauguration of Donald Trump in 2016. [4]
KKR Global Institute
Kravis tapped retired General and ex-CIA Director David Petraeus to run the intelligence agency in December 2014. KGI was responsible for trafficking large quantities of weapons into the Syria conflict in order to arm Daesh/ISIS opposition to Bashar Al-Assad. [5]
KGI claims to be "an integral part of the KKR investment process" [6].
